Since ZenDog Spa operates mainly on scheduled dog grooming appointments, if you cancel your grooming appointment within 24 hours or do not show for your appointment, you will be charged the full cost of the groom.
We try to accommodate dogs who have aggression history but we ask that you disclose this with us beforehand, for safety. A history of aggression will not automatically disqualify your dog for grooming, but will give us the ability to prepare to work with your dog safely. The more details you can provide us with, the better!
If your dog has fleas you must tell us before your appointment so that we can prepare accordingly. We use a natural flea shampoo that kills fleas on contact and any dog with fleas will go directly into the bath tub upon arrival.
We accept all major credit and debit cards along with cash and check. Our payment system includes a small credit card fee so please keep this mind and organize to pay with check, debit, or cash if you would like to avoid this credit card fee.
We have lots of comfortable space for our dog friends! We have crate options and non-crate options. Dogs who are calm, friendly, and social can mingle freely. Those who prefer their own space can spend their time in a separate (but visible) room or in a spacious visible crate when they are not being groomed. All spaces are always visible and monitored by all members of our staff. We find that this approach works better for all parties than strictly cage-free. if you have a preference for your dog please let us know and we will accommodate accordingly!
If your dog becomes overwhelmed we will contact you and work with you directly to find a better approach for your dog's individual needs. Their comfort is always put first and we do not force or push dogs through any part of the process. We will work with you and your to build a trusting and positive relationship.
We do. Please notify us before their appointment about their grooming trauma and we will work with you and your dog to create an approach for them that they are comfortable with. Consistency is important and we regularly work with dogs who have made huge improvements with their grooming fear.
Absolutely! We groom many doodles and we love them!
We typically ask for 3-4 hours per appointment. This can vary based on your individual dog's needs. Large dogs or heavy coated dogs will typically take longer, as well as dogs with matting, anxieties, or any special needs. Please keep in mind that these times can vary and we will contact you or let you know ahead of time if we suspect it will possibly be a longer appointment. If you have any plans that require you have your dog back at a specific time please notify us beforehand so we can accommodate.
Matted dogs will be shaved. We prioritize your dog's comfort first and in most cases of matting, shaving is the most comfortable option. Small amounts of matting that do not cover large areas can typically be worked with for additional cost. We only do this if it can be done comfortably. If we are shaving your dog, it is the best option for your dog and we will always discuss it beforehand.
If your dog hates grooming we will do our best to make it as positive as possible for them! Nothing makes us happier than when a dog hates grooming when they first come to us, and progresses to loving to come visit us over time!
